This drawing class is designed for beginning students where students
will learn how to use many drawing mediums such as charcoal, pencils,
pen and ink, and colored pencils to create dynamic drawings. Demos of
all types of line-contour, gesture, variable and hatched lines will
be presented. Art themes such as still life, landscape, studies and
images from your own inspiration will be covered.
Designed for both beginning and continuing students to explore traditional watercolor
and experimental watercolor techniques. Color theory and composition are emphasized
through images based on still life and landscape.
Making an artwork through the eyes of master French impressionist, Claude Monet. We'll study a Monet's
artwork and create in acrylic our own version of it. Instructor will guide the students of all levels
via demonstration to bring the artwork to a completion.

Internationally acclaimed artist, art educator and Corcoran GW graduate and Notable Alumni, Vian Borchert, teaches
“Watercolor Painting”. In this 6 week Watercolor painting course, designed for all levels, students will explore
traditional watercolor and experimental watercolor techniques. Color theory and composition are emphasized through
images based on varying subject matters such as landscape and still-life and studies of master artists' artwork.
Students are welcome to work from the images the instructor provides or bring their own images to work from.
Students will be guided in creating a pleasing work of art.
