Acrylic
This is a studio course that introduces and teaches how to create works of art using the Acrylic medium. This class focuses on learning the techniques and skills needed to create representational and abstract paintings. Students will learn how to paint different compositions such as still life, landscapes, figure and portrait paintings. Furthermore, the development of observational skills, problem solving techniques, and fundamentals of form and composition such as color, shape, line, mass and space will be introduced. This helps to develop the visual thinking that strengthens the creative process. This class provides the opportunity for greater individual and artistic experimentation and expression. Throughout the course, references to art history and to traditional and contemporary concepts of aesthetics will be discussed. The supply list is available at the Arts Barn front desk. Registration
Drawing
The dramatic power of line makes drawing a powerful tool of self-expression, and enables students to see the world in a different way. Explore this exciting world and experiment with a variety of approaches and materials. Learn to use charcoal, pencils of various tonalities, Pen and ink, and colored pencil to create your own dynamic drawings. All types of line - contour, gesture, variable and hatched will create unique and exciting drawings. Explore them all and discover the ones that best express you. Draw with confidence and explore a wide range of subject matter – Still life, landscape, portraits and images from your own imagination. Watercolor
This class guides the students to the fresh and translucent medium of watercolor. The student will learn step by step the necessary techniques and methods needed to create a successful watercolor painting. Learning how to apply washes such as: wet-on-dry, wet-in-wet, graded washes, masking and brushwork texture techniques will enable one to master the basic skills of watercolor. The student will utilize these watercolor methods to create still life, landscape and portrait compositions effectively. Thus, with the knowledge of the classic watercolor skills, one will learn, experiment and discover this fascinating medium. The supply list is available at the Arts Barn.
