3rd Price Award for Portrait of Dali, "Very sensitive, especially in the eyes"
Bill Schmidt, an acomplished american landscape painter juried the the 35th annual art show at the Womans Club of Chevy Chase with over 400 peaces of artwork and eight categories. He awarded the 3rd price in the portraits category to "Dali", a pen and ink drawing of fine artist and art instructor Vian Borchert. Schmidt described Vians artwork as "a superp drawing, very sensitive in the eyes".
Dali is on display until March 28, 2010.

Third Place in Art Exhibit - "...Kind of like Picasso would do it..."
"Alex", Vian's latest and one of 139 submitted oil and acrylic paintings, received the third place award at the 34th annual art show of the Womans Club of Chevy Chase (WCCC) near Washington D.C.

Vian Borchert grew up surrounded by a family of artists. Born in Beirut and raised in Amman, Jordan, Borchert moved to Maryland when she was 14. Her mother is Diana Shamounki, a famous Jordanian artist whose work is sought after worldwide and displayed in embassies, galleries and private collections. Borchert herself is a minor Jordanian celebrity, having appeared in interviews on Jordanian television, and with artwork on display in the National Museum of Jordan....
