Third Place in Art Exhibit - "...Kind of like Picasso would do it..."
"Alex", Vian's latest and one of 139 submitted oil and acrylic paintings, received the third place award at the latest art show of the Womans Club of Chevy Chase (WCCC) near Washington D.C.
The show was held from March 27 - 29, 2009, and juried by Michaele Harrington, a practicing fine artist and an art educator at colleges in the Greater Baltimore-Washington area. During the art opening on Friday evening Ms. Harrington critiqued Vian's painting as "...kind of like Picasso would do it..." and continued by describing the use of blues in the face as " ...distorted - The eyes - I just couldn't resist it". The show consisted of over 500 art peaces from over 100 artists of all categories from Watercolor to Oil / Acrylic to Photography. EvenĀ though the show lasted only for one weekend, the organizers mentioned that this time the show had the highest number of participants ever.
